Who Can Benefit From Invisalign®

  • Gapped Teeth

Gapped teeth can detract from the appearance of your smile. They can also trap food particles between them, contributing to poor dental and periodontal health. Invisalign® brings the teeth tightly together and eliminates any gaps between them.

  • Overbite
An overbite is when the upper teeth overlap the lower teeth. This condition can cause chronic pain, tooth and gum damage, speech issues, and even sleep apnea. Invisalign® can correct an overbite by moving the upper teeth back and aligning the midline of the teeth.

  • Underbite
An underbite is when the lower teeth extend or protrude in front of the upper teeth. Underbites can be caused by an overgrown lower jaw or an undergrown upper jaw. Invisalign® can correct an underbite by moving the lower teeth backward to properly align the two rows of teeth.

  • Open Bite
An open bite is when opposing teeth on the top and bottom are misaligned so that they do not make contact. This creates an open space between the rows of teeth. Invisalign® realigns the teeth and fixes the bite so that the teeth can line up and make contact.

  • Overcrowding
Overcrowding is when the teeth are not correctly positioned and appear as though they do not all “fit.” They may extend at unusual angles, be turned sideways, or be situated in front of or behind nearby teeth. Invisalign® adjusts the teeth to create straight alignment and a more attractive, natural-looking smile.

  • Crossbite
A crossbite is when one or more upper teeth are situated either closer to the cheek or closer to the tongue than the corresponding lower teeth. This occurs when there is a discrepancy in the width of the upper and lower jaw. Invisalign® can realign the teeth so that the bite is normal in appearance and alignment.

Why Choose Invisalign® Over Braces?

BETTER APPEARANCE

BETTER APPEARANCE

Braces are known for their unappealing appearance. Most patients are only willing to tolerate braces because they want the attractive smile that braces can help them achieve. Invisalign®, on the other hand, is almost undetectable. Invisalign® patients can enjoy virtually invisible teeth straightening so that the smile will look increasingly more inviting throughout the course of treatment.

MAINTAIN ORAL HEALTH

MAINTAIN ORAL HEALTH

EBraces make oral hygiene habits more difficult to maintain. Even with vigilant effort, flossing and brushing are much more challenging and can fail to adequately remove food particles from between the teeth and wires. Invisalign® allows you to brush and floss normally so that you can maintain the best oral health throughout your treatment.

MORE COMFORTABLE

MORE COMFORTABLE

Braces consist of sharp metal pieces that can irritate your cheeks and gums, causing discomfort and pain. Invisalign® is made of a smooth, comfortable plastic that greatly improves patient comfort while realigning and repositioning the teeth.

NO DIETARY RESTRICTIONS

NO DIETARY RESTRICTIONS

With braces, foods such as nuts, popcorn, and sticky or hard candy must be avoided. Other foods such as lettuce or seeds can easily get stuck in the braces. The Invisalign® trays are removed when eating, which means that you can eat whatever foods you desire.

A MORE FLEXIBLE SCHEDULE

While most patients with braces typically need to visit their orthodontist once per month, patients with Invisalign® only need to make office visits every four to six weeks. This makes Invisalign® a more flexible treatment so that you can continue to manage your many appointments.

Your Concerns

  • THE TREATMENT PROCESS

Invisalign® treatment can be broken down into the following steps:

    • Once it is determined that you are a good candidate for Invisalign®, then X-rays, pictures, and impressions will be taken of your teeth to create 3D digital images. Using these images, Dr. Sands will devise a precise treatment plan for you.
    • Custom-made, clear Invisalign® trays are given to you to wear for at least 20 to 22 hours every day. You should only remove them to eat, brush, or floss. Invisalign® will gradually and gently cause your teeth to shift and straighten.
    • Every few weeks, you will switch to a new set of alignment trays to advance your Invisalign® treatment. Checkups every four to six weeks allow Dr. Sands to monitor your progress.
    • Once treatment is complete and your beautiful smile has been revealed, retainers may be devised to ensure that your smile retains its newly improved appearance.
  • TREATMENT LENGTH

Invisalign® treatment for most adults takes approximately one year, though every case is unique. Invisalign® for adolescents is comparable to the length of time required for braces.

  • COSTS

Invisalign® is an investment into your future and can give you an attractive, straight smile and better dental health throughout your lifetime. The total financial cost will be determined during your personal consultation. In some instances, your dental insurance company may pay for Invisalign®.

  • MAINTAINING RESULTS

To maintain your smile after treatment with Invisalign®, be sure to:

    • Wear your retainer as instructed
    • Brush and floss regularly
    • Continue visiting the dentist for regular treatments
    • Avoid harmful habits such as biting your nails or
    • using your teeth as tools
