Dental Bonding

Genetics, poor hygiene, and trauma can affect the appearance of your teeth. Gaps, chips, misshapen teeth, and cracked teeth can prevent you from having the attractive and charming smile you desire. Dental bonding provides cosmetic enhancements to your smile by addressing common dental issues. This process is quick and painless, and it provides beautiful results for most patients. Dental bonding may be reversed in the future in order to apply permanent or longer-lasting treatments.

Benefits Of Dental Bonding

Improve Discoloration

Years of poor lifestyle choices can leave you with permanently discolored or stained teeth. Enamel erosion can leave your teeth looking dark or brown. Drinking coffee, soda, or wine over an extended period of time will result in stained teeth. Dental bonding helps to restore whiter smiles for both men and women.

Repair Damage

Chipped, cracked, or otherwise broken teeth can occur because of tooth decay or during a traumatic event. Dental bonding painlessly repairs gaps, chips, cracks, and tooth decay. Repairing dental damage can revive a healthier and more vibrant smile.

Cosmetic Enhancements

Poor tooth length or misshapen teeth can affect the quality of your grin. Since dental bonding is quick, it is the ideal procedure to provide the right cosmetic enhancement for you. With dental bonding, you can lengthen the teeth for a more balanced smile or improve poorly shaped teeth.

Why Choose Dental Bonding?

Natural Results

Dr. Sands believes that the best results are achieved by providing the most natural results. His experience with dental bonding allows him to choose the best color and apply the dental bond to ensure the patient gets the most natural-looking results.

CUSTOMIZED TREATMENTS

Every patient has a unique set of needs when it comes to restoring their teeth. Dental bonding is available in a wide range of color shades to blend in naturally with your current teeth. Customized treatments ensure that your new smile actually looks like yours!

LONG LASTING

Dental bonding is designed to last three to 10 years. This is dramatically longer than most teeth whitening procedures. With the proper maintenance and care, your flawless smile will last you years.

PAINLESS

The process of applying dental bonding is painless. As opposed to crowns, bonding only requires minimal alteration to your original teeth. The outer tooth is finely etched to create a bonding surface. Most patients don’t require anesthesia.

Concerns About Dental Bonding

THE PROCEDURE PROCESS

Dr. Sands will choose the shade of bonding that matches perfectly with your natural tooth color. He begins the procedure by lightly etching the tooth surface where he will place a bonding liquid that will hold the plastic resin in place. The synthetic resin is applied to the area, sculpted into the desired shape, and hardened with a special light. Dr. Sands will continue to trim, shape, and polish the material until it matches the sheen of the rest of the tooth’s surface.

COSTS

Dental bonding is a faster and cheaper alternative to other tooth restoration solutions. However, excellent technique and experience are required to achieve natural, beautiful results. Dr. Sands will provide you with a detailed quote during your consultation.

MAINTAINING RESULTS

Your regular oral hygiene routine is adequate to care for bonded teeth. You should brush twice daily and floss at least once per day. However, the material used for dental bonding is not as strong as tooth enamel and is more likely to stain, chip, or break. Avoid chewing on overly hard food or objects. Your dental bonding may need to be replaced after several years.

Frequently Asked Questions

HOW LONG DOES A DENTAL BONDING PROCEDURE TAKE?

Depending on the extent of correction needed, dental bonding can take anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes per tooth. This includes the time required for the composite material to harden.

IS ANESTHESIA USED DURING THE DENTAL BONDING PROCESS?

In most cases, anesthesia is not required for the dental bonding process. However, it may be used for cavity treatments.

WHAT IS USED TO HARDEN THE COMPOSITE RESIN?

An ultraviolet light or lasers are used to harden composite resin, which strengthens the material while allowing it to hold its shape.

IS THERE A MORE PERMANENT COSMETIC ENHANCEMENT PROCEDURE AVAILABLE BESIDES DENTAL BONDING?

Dental bonding is a quick and long-lasting improvement to the teeth. However, porcelain veneers provide a more permanent and stronger tooth surface. Discuss which treatment is best suited for you during your consultation with Dr. Sands.

“I just wanted to thank you and your entire staff for the excellent treatment and pampering I received at your office. Being in the dental profession, I know how important teeth are. I never realized the impact a perfect smile would have on my lift. Growing up, I never liked my smile. My front teeth were discolored and had spaces between them. I was so unhappy, that I would use my hand to cover my teeth when I would smile. Ever since I had veneers put on, my life has improved dramatically. I have so much more self-confidence, that I can’t stop smiling. It’s amazing how two short visits to your office changed my life.”
