Southern California Porcelain Veneer
A
porcelain
veneer can help improve many undesirable tooth defects, including stained
or discolored teeth, by an injury, or as a result of a root-canal procedure.
If you are looking to improve upon the appearance of your smile, the porcelain
veneer procedure is available here at Southern
California cosmetic dentist office of Dr. Kevin Sands'.
A porcelain veneer is basically an ultra-thin shell of ceramic material,
which is bonded to the front of existing teeth. The porcelain
veneer procedure requires no anesthesia and takes one to two hours for
the doctor to perform. How the procedure is performed is first, a half-millimeter
of enamel is removed from the front surface of the tooth. The tooth is then
"roughed up" using phosphoric acid. Resin cement and the veneer are then
applied to the tooth. The procedure takes at least two visits to complete.
