Too Perfect of a Smile

Most individuals look to their favorite Hollywood stars when in search of the latest beauty trends, including their smiles. For some time, the super straight and extra white veneers (oftentimes termed “Chiclets” teeth) were a huge hit and widely requested at my Beverly Hill practice. Now, as men and women are beginning to notice that their friends and family all have similar looking smiles, they ask for a more natural-looking enhancement.

Just as patients may undergo a minimal facial rejuvenating procedure, many are now only looking for a subtle change to their teeth. The goal is to achieve a more aesthetically pleasing smile, while still maintaining a natural appearance. Patients are more often asking for a customized veneer in order to subtly enhance their smile. No longer are patients looking for the extremely white and perfectly straight set of teeth from years ago. Slight imperfections such as overlapping and off-white tooth color are commonly requested so that they may still look like themselves and not like an entirely new person. In addition, adding texture to the veneers helps to blend them in with the patient’s natural teeth.

In order to determine the best veneer treatment for each patient, it is recommended that they learn of their options and openly communicate with their cosmetic dentist. It is my goal to help each individuals meet his/her ideal outcome when visiting my practice. By thoroughly examining their dental structure and carefully discussing their ideal outcome, we can personalize a treatment plan. Just as there are now two people alike, there are no to procedures alike. Although one set of veneers may look suitable for one patient, it may look too perfect or not perfect enough for another.
